Five Mile Creek beach area before and after a flood moved river rock
The creek changed the land in one week—and clarified what was worth protecting.
Listening to the land

The flood did not erase the work. It revealed the direction.

The water moved an extraordinary amount of river rock, deepened areas of the creek, and reshaped the beaches. Some work washed away. What came back was better.

Restoration does not always mean putting everything back the way it was.

The Valley is being built lightly near the creek, permanently only where the land proves it belongs, and slowly enough that the place keeps its voice.
